Something Wickedly Fun Is Coming to TownHouse
The Halloween spirit has officially taken over TownHouse, and we've got a week full of spooky surprises, playful challenges, and plenty of treats for our four-legged friends!
We're kicking things off with Halloween Hurdles, helping pups build coordination and confidence as they navigate festive obstacles. Tuesday brings Doorbell Manners, an especially useful skill with trick-or-treaters on the way! We'll keep those paws moving with another round of agility on Wednesday before getting camera-ready for Thursday's Annual Halloween Costume Photoshoot. Don't forget to send in your pup's costume! And to top it all off, Friday's Howl-o-ween Party will bring pumpkin races, apple bobbing, and plenty of tasty treats!
Behind all the Halloween fun, there's plenty of learning happening, from practicing patience and impulse control to building confidence through new experiences.
Here's to a week of happy paws, clever pups, and just the right amount of Halloween mischief!

Tricks, Treats & Picture-Perfect Pups
Halloween costumes aren't just for humans! With our Annual Halloween Costume Photoshoot coming up next week, I thought I'd share a few tips for making dressing up a fun, positive experience for your pup.
As adorable as dogs look in costumes, not every pup enjoys wearing one, and that's perfectly okay! The key is paying attention to their comfort. A good costume should allow your dog to move, see, hear, and breathe freely, without anything tight, restrictive, or dangling that they might chew. If your pup is new to dressing up, try introducing the costume at home for short periods, offering treats and praise along the way. Watch for signs of discomfort, like freezing, excessive licking, or trying to remove the outfit. Sometimes a festive bandana is all it takes to get into the Halloween spirit! And remember, a great photo isn't about the perfect pose. It's about making sure your dog feels safe, comfortable, and happy. That's always our priority, whether we're practicing a new skill or capturing a special holiday memory. Wagfully yours,Angela Pantalone
Dog Enrichment ActivitiesSchedule a balance of learning and fun in your pup's days at Town House! These activities can be added to your dog's daycare or overnight stays and will be handled by our staff. Monday, October 26 — Mighty Monday Challenge: Halloween HurdlesOur Halloween-themed challenge will have pups going over and under hurdles before tackling an A-frame walk and finishing with a sit-stay.
The Why: Moving over, under, and across different obstacles helps pups develop coordination, balance, and body awareness. Finishing with a sit-stay adds an important mental challenge, encouraging dogs to shift from physical excitement to calm focus and impulse control.
Tuesday, October 27 — Training Tuesday: Doorbell MannersTrick-or-treaters are coming! Pups will practice sitting calmly and waiting at doors and gates, an especially handy skill with Halloween right around the corner.
The Why: Practicing calm behavior around doors helps build patience, impulse control, and safer greeting habits. Learning to pause and wait instead of rushing forward is an important everyday skill, especially when visitors and distractions are involved.
Wednesday, October 28 — Agility Enrichment: Ultimate Agility CourseWe’ll set up a challenging agility course designed to keep pups moving, thinking, and having fun as they navigate a variety of obstacles and activities.
The Why: Navigating a variety of obstacles challenges pups both physically and mentally, helping improve coordination, balance, and body awareness. Moving from one activity to the next also encourages focus, problem-solving, and confidence as dogs learn to tackle new challenges and follow directions along the way. Thursday, October 29 — Crafty Canines: Annual Halloween Costume PhotoshootCostumes at the ready! Send your pup's costume in a bag labeled with their name, and we'll handle the rest. No costume? No problem! We'll reach into our bag of tricks and surprise you.
The Why: Photoshoots offer pups opportunities to practice patience, comfortable handling, and remaining calm around unfamiliar props and decorations. With positive encouragement and plenty of breaks as needed, it's a fun way to build confidence while capturing a special Halloween keepsake.
Friday, October 30 — Gym Class Friday: Howl-o-ween Party! It's time to paw-ty! Pups will celebrate with apple bobbing, costumes, pumpkin races, and even some hot dog treats. It's sure to be an apple-solutely spooktacular time!
The Why: Our Halloween festivities combine movement, sensory exploration, and problem-solving in a playful setting. From tracking rolling pumpkins to investigating new sights, scents, and activities, pups get to exercise their bodies and minds while enjoying a festive change of pace.
