Nous souhaitons vous informer d’un problème d’affichage que certains d’entre vous auront peut-être remarqué sur la carte dans MyGeotab : le lac Ontario s’affiche actuellement sous le nom « Lake America » lorsque Google Maps est sélectionné comme fournisseur de carte.
POURQUOI CE CHANGEMENT
Ce changement provient entièrement de Google. À la suite d’une mise à jour récente des registres officiels de nomenclature géographique américains, la plateforme Google Maps a commencé à afficher « Lake America » pour les données cartographiques situées aux États-Unis. Cette mise à jour ne devait s’appliquer qu’aux États-Unis — les utilisateurs canadiens devraient continuer à voir « Lake Ontario ». Malheureusement, la logique basée sur la résidence que Google applique correctement sur son propre produit Maps grand public ne s’applique pas encore correctement à l’API utilisée dans MyGeotab.Nous tenons à préciser que cette situation échappe entièrement au contrôle d’AttriX et de Geotab, puisqu’elle provient des données cartographiques et de la configuration de l’API de Google. Nous avons confirmé que le problème touche uniquement le fournisseur Google Maps — les comptes utilisant MapBox ou HERE Maps comme fournisseur de carte continuent d’afficher correctement « Lake Ontario ».Nous partageons votre point de vue : le lac Ontario, c’est le lac Ontario. Nous avons soulevé la situation directement auprès de Geotab, qui entretient une relation directe avec l’équipe Google Maps Platform, en leur demandant d’escalader le dossier pour obtenir une correction rapide.
CE QUE NOUS VOUS RECOMMANDONS
En attendant, si vous souhaitez que le bon nom s’affiche dès maintenant, vous pouvez temporairement changer votre fournisseur de carte sous Paramètres système > Cartes > Fournisseur de carte, vers MapBox ou HERE Maps. Il s’agit d’un changement en un clic, entièrement réversible, sans impact sur vos données ou le suivi de vos actifs.Nous vous tiendrons informés dès que nous aurons des nouvelles de Google par l’entremise de Geotab.
