We are now past the halfway point of our fall member drive, and I wanted to share an update on where things stand. More than 1,700 public media supporters like you have stepped up with monthly donations towards our goal of 5,000. If we have any chance of reaching that goal by Friday, we need an outpouring of sustaining support in these final four days.  

Be one of the 3,300 members to make a new monthly gift or increase your monthly support so that we can go into the midterm election and the new year on the strongest possible footing.  

A few days ago, we decided to pause our fundraiser to bring you interrupted coverage of the quickly-developing Norte Fire in Orange County. Bringing you vital information will always be our priority, but at the same time, that’s why your support is so necessary right now.  

From wildfires, to elections, to conversations that spark joy and connection -- LAist’s job is to help you understand the world around you and feel more empowered to make change. We aren’t afraid to ask tough questions, hold power to account, and dig deep on stories that take time and investment because we know you have our backs. 

The amazing thing about our fall member drive goal is that you don’t have to make a large gift to make a meaningful difference. Anything from $10/month to $125/month adds up alongside thousands of others. Monthly membership is what gives LAist reliable support to plan ahead, invest in our journalists, and stay with important stories long after the headlines move on.
